Jeumont Electric devotes a sizeable part of its R&D for investigating new topologies of rotating machines and regularly takes part in major public tenders such as AMI Grand Eolien, the call for proposals for wind turbines held in 2012 by the ADEME. This is how the JEOLIS project came about. This innovative wind turbine is a compensated synchronous machine that is more compact and uses less magnets than a PMG. A design that can also be used for the hydro-electric market.

For many years now, Jeumont Electric has been exploring superconductivity applications for electrical rotating machines in partnership with the research organization, GREEN (Groupe de Recherche en Électrotechnique et Électronique de Nancy) with which it has set up a superconductor hub.

In May 2015, Jeumont Electric became one of the players in the Ecoswing superconductive generator project for offshore wind farms funded by the European Union.

To monitor its machines, Jeumont Electric develops applications based on cutting edge electronics technology. One example is the rotor mass imbalance detection system named JEROMO. It is a simple, cost-effective system that does not require any slip rings or brushes and can even monitor the rotor when idle.
