Portugal: Replacement alternator for waste-to-energy plant

Portuguese waste-treatment company Valorsul selected Jeumont Electric to supply a 63 MVA replacement alternator, excitation system, and protective devices for a waste-to-energy plant in Lisbon.
A steam boiler will power a steam turbine coupled with the alternator, providing electricity to around 70,000 homes.
Once it is up and running with the replacement alternator, the plant is expected to convert around 700,000 tons of waste per year into energy, making it one of Portugal’s largest waste-to-energy plants.
