Qatargas gets replacement asynchronous motor

Qatargas, the world’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) leader, ordered a 6.8 MW 1,500 RPM replacement asynchronous motor from Jeumont Electric in June 2017. The motor will equip the company’s Ras Laffan facility, which has seven LNG production lines (the world’s longest) and an annual capacity of 7.8 million tons.
The order, which came about due to unexpected circumstances, marks the new beginning of a relationship that dates back two decades, when Jeumont Electric supplied Qatargas with a dozen asynchronous motors and other equipment for the same site.
