SUCCESSFUL REPLACEMENT OF A ROTOR AT EDF’S GOLFECH NUCLEAR POWER PLANT.

3 September 2025

On 9 May 2025, teams from JEUMONT Electric carried out work at the Golfech Nuclear Power Plant in southern France on a 1,300 MW alternator. This operation enabled the replacement of the rotor, the central component of the alternator, followed by the successful reintroduction of a new rotor on 10 July.

Three strategic challenges marked this operation :

  • Rotor replacement, with the old rotor being removed for overhaul at JEUMONT Electric, then the rewound rotor being installed.
  • Implementation of Siteflow as a pilot tool for the digitisation of technical files.
  • STAR INOX certification, with the application of our radial calibration procedure.

A team working on two positions :

2 site managers, 3 works supervisors, 6 workers, 6 apprentices, 1 electrical inspector, 1 quality technician.

Next steps : enclosure testing, alignment and rotor re-coupling!

This delicate operation, carried out in an environment as demanding as a nuclear power plant, demonstrates the technical rigour of our teams and our collective commitment to the safety and performance of the facilities. We would like to thank EDF for the trust they have placed in us to carry out this work.

In 2024, the Golfech power plant produced 16.8 TWh of low-carbon electricity, equivalent to the annual consumption of 3.3 million French households, or more than 45% of the consumption of the Occitanie region.
